Values Exercise
Mar 18, 2021Have you ever felt that something was missing in your work?
After the initial shock of shifting to fully remote work last March, I began to settle into a routine—and not in a good way.
I still loved my company and my people, but my leadership felt “hollow”.
I felt like I was driving on a service road next to the superhighway of success—I could see the path, I just couldn’t figure out how to fully get on it.
In my coaching and mentoring work with leaders, I’ve helped them explore their personal values.
When we connect our work with our values, we find greater meaning and purpose.
I used this simple-but-powerful method to rediscover what matters most to me, and it has made all the difference.
> My recent explosion of LinkedIn activity has been fueled by my value of service.
> People I work with—inside and outside my company—now comment on my visible and contagious enthusiasm.
As part of my rejuvenation, I created a step-by-step exercise to help leaders discover their deepest held values, and I’m proud to be able to share it with you.
I’ll drop a link to the 10-minute exercise in the comments below—I hope you’ll check it out.
Your path toward authentic people leadership begins by connecting with what makes your work most meaningful.
