The Only Choice
Aug 25, 2021I’ve written a LinkedIn post nearly every day this year.
There have been plenty of times when I considered giving up.
Staring at a blank page is hard, but that’s not what tempted me.
I felt alone.
As if my passion for inspiring others was pouring out into a void.
As if I wasn’t good enough or skilled enough or was somehow incomplete.
As if all of it is just so ephemeral.
It’s difficult to keep playing to what feels like an empty crowd.
It can make you feel very small.
You feel as if you’re shouting but nobody’s paying attention.
Then you see a pseudo-celebrity share some tired quote and get rewarded with an avalanche of reaction and engagement.
Not you.
You’re putting in the reps, working hard to get your message to those you desperately want to benefit from it.
You feel alone and frustrated, but you know you can’t quit now.
“I have something of value to share with those around me.”
“I will break through the silence.”
“I matter.”
You continue your struggle—against the noise and the silence and yourself.
You believe that your passion and your commitment to make a difference fuels your perseverance.
You believe that you’ll achieve your goals and honor your purpose.
You believe in yourself.
And I believe in you.
