Uncomfortable Truth
Aug 14, 2021Comfort is a killer.
If we don’t push ourselves we stagnate, atrophy, stall.
Here’s how I made myself uncomfortable this week:
1. I shared my art.
For the past few weeks, I poured my creative energy into my shiny new “Ultimate Leadership Starter Kit”. (Link in comments.)
When I reviewed the final draft, I was very proud of it and happy just thinking about the aspiring leaders it will help. 🏆
Then I felt this wave of … “Oh crap. Now I actually have to put it out there.”
“What if people don’t like it? What if they think it’s dumb?”
“Pipe down, brain.” (Clicks to share.)
2. I opened myself up for rejection.
I was pleasantly surprised to appear on Engagedly’s list of Top 100 HR influencers.
I connected with another list member who is MUCH more established than me.
I asked her to come onto my leadership variety show, Lead the People.
Here we go again … “Oh crap. What if she says no? What if she tells all of the other people on the list that I overuse emoji in my posts?” 😧
“Only one way to find out.” (Clicks to send invite.)
I refuse to be your next victim, comfort. Nice try.
