Ordering the Special
Jan 04, 2021There’s one thing I miss most about dining out less frequently these days:
The specials.
Whenever I go to a restaurant, I always ask about these unexpected options.
“I think I’ll have the espresso-crusted squid belly with the sweet potato puree and the wild grape juice reduction.”
Specials give me an easy way to expand what little palate I have.
I’ve always mixed things up in this same way when it comes to my leadership approach.
Not all of my experiments stick, of course, but I’ll never know which leadership techniques I like if I don’t try them.
As we kick off the new year, it’s the perfect opportunity to try out a new leadership “special”.
Here are a few examples:
âś… Start your next team meeting with a fun “learn something new about one another” exercise.
âś… Change up your professional development plan template.
âś… Invite a guest from outside of your department to join your next team meeting, and discuss their work and objectives.
âś… Ask each of your team members to anonymously describe your leadership style in one word.
What other leadership specials would you recommend?
