Finding Focus

Feb 17, 2021

The founding fathers of Microsoft and Apple were stylistic opposites but they had a shared view on this critical success factor:

đź’ˇ “Only through focus can you do world-class things, no matter how capable you are.” —Bill Gates

đź’ˇ “Focus does not mean saying yes, it means saying no.” —Steve Jobs

It’s very easy to look around and see all of the improvements that you COULD make in your work and in your life.

Even so—if you’re in an execution cycle—the time for planning is over.

You have to be disciplined enough to keep your team focused on the task at hand.

This isn’t easy:

✨ New information streams in and begs for attention
✨ Off-plan operational deficiencies continue to create nagging issues
✨ New opportunities present themselves
✨ New ideas and new players emerge

Even Microsoft and Apple with their seemingly unlimited resources had to focus in order to realize their potential.

Let’s pull a page from these tech titans and keep our teams focused on executing our plan.

Tomorrow, I’ll share some tips on how to do exactly that.
